History of McGilley Antioch Chapel
The McGilley Funeral Home group began as the Mellody Funeral Home, founded in 1899.
James McGilley Sr. joined his uncle Mellody,at the funeral home after emigrating from Ireland. Upon Mellody’s death in 1933, McGilley, Sr. assumed the home’s management responsibilities. James McGilley, Jr., began working at the home in 1940. John McGilley joined the family business in 1954.
James McGilley, Jr. son, Mark, is a licensed funeral director. Mark is president of McGilley Memorial Chapels, which became affiliated in 1987 with Dignity Memorial®, the world’s largest network of funeral, cremation and cemetery service providers. Mark’s children, Patrick and Kathleen, are fifth-generation McGilleys working to maintain the trust and level of professionalism established by their elders.
